I always found granola that I buy either to be too sweet or just too expensive. Here I'd like to show you how you can easily make granola at home, putting in your own favourite ingredients and adjusting the sweetness to how you want it

Preparation time: 15 min

Cooking time: 15 min

Ingredients

1.5 cup of rolled oats

1 cup bran

2 Tbs maple syrup

1 Tbs honey

1 Tsp vanilla extract

Olive oil (or coconut oil)

Cinnamon powder

Pinch of salt

Your choice of nuts and dried fruit (below are my choices):

  • 1/4 cup pepita seeds

  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds

  • 1/4 cup pistachio nuts

  • 1/2 cup almond

  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts

  • 1/4 cup cranberries

  • Coconut flakes

Let's get started

First get all your ingredients and then preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Granola ingredients

Pour the rolled oats, bran, your choice of nuts (except pecans or walnuts) maple syrup, honey, vanilla extract, dash of olive oil (or coconut oil), cinnamon powder and pinch of salt into a bowl and mix. Now add the almonds and/or walnuts.

Mix granola ingredients into a bowl

Lay baking paper onto two baking trays. Then lay the mixed ingredients onto the baking paper, spread out enough so that you get an even bake. Put trays into the oven and cook for 10 min.

Mixed ingredients spread out for even cooking

While this is cooking, chop up the cranberries into smaller pieces.

Chop the cranberries

Take the trays out and add the chopped cranberries and coconut flakes. The heat will cook the Cres berries and coconut flakes just enough.

Leave everything to cool and there you have your granola!
